"Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners? And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" (Luke 5:30-32).We all get sick. Hence the comparison to all of us being sinners. He is calling us to repent, even to return to Him. I am grateful for His healing power and love that is offered to all of us as we repent (see 3 Nephi 18:32). It's no wonder that He asks us to visit the sick and the afflicted (see Mosiah 4:26) because we are all in need of healing. When we get sick, we never know how long it will take for us to get better. This is the same as we reach out to others who need help as they repent..."For ye know not but what they will return and repent, and come unto me with full purpose of heart, and I shall heal them; and ye shall be the means of bringing salvation unto them" (3 Nephi 18:32).
I know Christ is the Great Physician and as we visit those in need, the sick and the afflicted, we will "have been made instruments in the hands of God to bring about this great work" (Alma 26:3). This I testify.
