"We through patience and comfort of the scripture might have hope" (Romans 15:4)

#LightTheWorld #Day10
I share my own experience of reading the scriptures. They are the "word of God" (Alma 17:2). They bring comfort to my soul (see Alma 31:31-32). They inspire me to have hope and keep trying- for they were "written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scripture might have hope" (Romans 15:4). The scriptures testify of Christ and of His love for all of us (see Jacob 7:11, 1 Peter 1:11) . The scriptures teach of repentance and the joy and peace that comes as I repent and love God (Repentance).

Over the years, I have come to truly love the words that are within these precious books of scripture. You can request a free copy of the Bible , and of the Book of Mormon. I know that as you read them, and remember just how merciful God has been to all mankind from the beginning of time, and commit to living the truths that are written in them, you will come to know for yourself the truthfulness of them by the power of the Holy Ghost, which is the Spirit of God (see Moroni 10:3-5). You will also come to know Jesus Christ in a way that changes you, and makes you a new person (see Mosiah 5:8-9).

I hope you are able to enjoy reading the scriptures, "even feasting upon the words of Christ" (2 Nephi 32:3) as much as I do. For they will change your life in a way that will fill you with peace and love. This I testify.

"In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established" (2 Corinthians 13:1)

The desire to draw closer to God is a strong one. It can and will change your life. But how does one go about doing it? Some people want to do it their way, and only their way. Okay. But what if there was a better way? What about God's way? There is a book that has a promise with it, a promise from a prophet that "a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book" (President Joseph Smith). This book is The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. This book testifies of Jesus Christ and is another witness of His life and His teachings. It confirms what Christ taught in The Holy Bible.

It is hard to swallow pride and do some of the simplest things to change, especially when we have been doing habits or held beliefs for a very long time. But God is a loving God. Jesus Christ came "into the world that He may save all men if they will hearken unto His voice; for behold, He suffereth the pains of all men, yea, the pains of every living creature, both men, women, and children, who belong to the family of Adam" (2 Nephi 9:21). If we will "hearken", which implies more than just hearing, but is a call to action. The action He wants from us is to repent, be baptized and have perfect faith in Him, and endure to the end (see 2 Nephi 9:23-24). He will help us do this, because He loves us and wants us to not only have immortality, but also eternal life (see Moses 1:39).

The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is a powerful witness of Jesus Christ and His love for all people. He says, "Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all nations of the earth? Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also" (2 Nephi 9:7-8).

Paul said to the Corinthians, "In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established" (2 Corinthians 13:1). This is the law of witnesses and this is how Christ works. He gives more than one witness for His work. He loves us just as much as He loved the people in ancient times. He is "a God of miracles; and [He] will show unto the world that [He is] the same yesterday, today, and forever; and [He] works not among the children of men save it be according to their faith" (2 Nephi 27:23). Let our faith be strengthened and grow as we read The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It will add to your faith in Christ, He lives, that He created all things, He knows all things and has all wisdom; He has all power (see Mosiah 4:9).

Even if you have read The Book of Mormon before, read it again. Let its influence and power come into your life as you seek the confirmation of its truthfulness (see Moroni 10:3-5). I have read and reread it and read it daily, along with The Holy Bible. I add my witness to others (you can read their testimony here) that it is true. It has changed and continues to change my life. It testifies of Jesus Christ and His life. This I testify.
